Rebekah Rotstein, NCPT, CPT, is an industry leader in exercise for bone health, Pilates, and movement education for more than 20 years, with a background in dance, sports medicine and personal training. She is the founder of Buff Bones®, providing bone and joint health programming and education through virtual coaching, on-demand offerings, and trained instructors in more than 30 countries, and has taught professional courses at locations including Johns Hopkins Rehabilitation Network and oversees a free public education webinar series with UCLA Health.
A former ballet dancer, Rebekah worked in the Sports Medicine department of Smith College as a student athletic trainer starting in 1994. She later trained in Pilates at the Kane School in New York City under Kelly Kane and served as a Senior Expert Instructor, leading coursework including Special Populations as part of the teacher training faculty. When she was diagnosed with osteoporosis at age 28, her focus shifted to providing insights and options to individuals with low bone mass and the exercise professionals caring for them, and was eventually invited by Hatherleigh Medical Education to write an evidence-based continuing education paper on osteoporosis and exercise. This began the genesis of research used to develop Buff Bones®.
She has worked with and studied under numerous physical therapists, fellow personal trainers, and physicians the past 30 years. Her ongoing study of the body includes years of cadaver dissections and seminars at various medical schools in the U.S. and Europe, along with coursework in fascia research, somatic studies, and visceral manipulation.
She was one of the first visiting teachers at Pilates Anytime, and has presented at numerous conferences in the Pilates industry, at the International Osteoporosis Foundation Worldwide Conference, and for the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science (IADMS). Rebekah is a member of the Ambassador Leadership Council for the Bone Health and Osteoporosis Foundation and worked as a partner of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Women’s Health. She also serves on the Bone Health Working Group for the Society for Women’s Health Research, contributing to the 2021 recommendations published in the Journal for Women’s Health. A contributor to several books including Myths of Menopause, she serves on the Medical Advisory Committee for the National Menopause Foundation and was awarded the Robert F. Gagel, M.D. Community Leadership Award from the Bone Health and Osteoporosis Foundation.
Rebekah currently lives in Denver, CO after more than 20 years in New York City. When not running the Buff Bones® business with her terrific team, presenting, or traveling around the world, she can be found hiking the mountains of Colorado with her husband and little dog.
Lisa is a Principal Trainer under the Pilates Alliance Australasia and a Continuing Education Teacher and mentor. She co-created the Stepping Stones advanced training with Rebekah co-teaches the Hip Health workshop with her. She was the Brisbane Pilates teacher of Cirque Du Soleil for Totem in 2015, Kooza in 2016, and Kurios in 2020.
Lisa is the founder of Core Pilates Brisbane and was Queensland Faculty teacher for PilatesITC until 2019. She cultivated an expertise in hip health working alongside renowned hip specialist, physiotherapist and researcher Dr. Alison Grimaldi, teaching Pilates in her clinic for 2 years and is part of the Hip Academy. Her mentoring workshops attract students across the country seeking insight and confidence with lumbopelvic health.
Now based outside of Melbourne, she is an avid rock climber with her partner and enjoys time with her adult children living in the city.
Francine is an exercise physiologist with a masters degree in kinesiology from Cal State Northridge and nearly 20 years experience teaching movement. She initially trained in yoga, and completed both her 200 hour yoga certification and additional coursework in Therapeutic Yoga.
Francine first studied Pilates as an apprentice in Montevideo, Uruguay and upon returning stateside became a certified Pilates instructor with BASI®️ Pilates. Francine is also faculty for Carolyne Anthony’s The Center for Women’s Fitness and teaches courses on pre/postnatal exercise. Francine is the owner of Your Daily Practice, a small studio in California where she teaches bodies of all types both online and in person under the watchful eye of her 15 year old maltipoo. When she is not teaching or coaching, you can find her keeping up with her two very active soccer loving boys.
Sarah is an ISMETA Registered Somatic Movement Educator and Somatic Movement Therapist, a Comprehensive and Remedial Pilates Teacher, a One Dance UK Healthcare Practitioner, and a Level 4 Franklin Method® Educator.
Sarah is a ISMETA Registered Somatic Movement Educator and Somatic Movement Therapist, and is completing her clinical training as a Somatic Therapist, mentored by Daniel Leven. Sarah came to the world of somatics and embodiment during her time as a dancer, learning to reuse her body after challenging reconstructive surgeries. She initially trained in Pilates under Alan Herdman and then worked in his studios in London upon graduation Now teaching virtually worldwide and in person in Birmingham, she specialises in the somatic component in movement, with clients ranging from those with physical limitations to professional athletes and dancers. She is a One Dance UK Healthcare Practitioner and Pilates and Dance Wellbeing tutor at Fabric West Midlands Centre for Advanced Training for Contemporary Dance.
When Sarah is not teaching you can find her working with rescue birds who can be a joy and challenge, or in the dance studio dancing with no rules!
Morgan is the operational mastermind behind Buff Bones®, keeping our technology, programs, courses, instructors, and Rebekah all in line. Her knack for problem solving is matched by her multi-tasking talent. She is also an established writer, actor, and theatermaker with an masters degree in playwriting. Morgan lives in Brooklyn with her husband and adorable son, and loves to run in Prospect Park.
Melanie manages the Buff Bones® community sphere, overseeing our social presence to share tips and insights along with inspiration and advocacy. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration & Marketing from Cal State Fullerton, and over 10 years experience working in digital marketing.
Whether advising, implementing, or developing, Jim builds and maintains the technical engine that is the foundation of the Buff Bones® operation.
